Book and Paper Art
Books and paper speak to me in a unique way when I create art pieces. Instead of thinking of them as parts of a functional object, I think about what the various elements can become, and how far I can push their limits. I integrate techniques such as pleating, ruffling, sewing (by hand and machine), painting, and papier mache into my work. Since I see books as organic, I often utilize motifs such as plants and nature; my sculpted paper dresses are inspired by my love of fashion and its history, and by a fascination with how clothing is both a form of expression and communication.
